Upon Leaving the Vaughan Woods

A Walk through the Vaughan Woods -- Hallowell, Maine

The dam and bridges in the Vaughan Woods were built in the 19th Century. The granite dam was a replacement for a breached earthen dam. At this time the land was open with mills downstream from the dam.
